What horoscope would the character consult if they wanted to find out what was in store for them? This article explores the character of Capricorn represented as the Goat

The third article in this series explored the final air sign, Gemini. The first earth sign is Capricorn. Here the characteristics will be explored in more detail to help writers understand their motivations, their aspirations and their good and bad points. Characters born under the sign of Capricorn will have their birthday somewhere between 22nd December and the 19th January.

Capricorn – Overview

Capricorn is the tenth sign of the zodiac and is represented by the sea goat.

This sign is associated with practicality, determination, responsibility and wisdom. Capricorn characters are sure-footed and full of practical solutions and common sense. One of their main goals is to understand the feelings and needs of others. Despite their sagacity however, they can worry about their physical and emotional security. They fear being embarrassed in public and so sometimes it can take a little while for them join in the fun.

Capricorn – Physical and Behavioural Attributes

Capricorn characters are generally smaller in stature but a well toned one if they undertake exercise. Capricorns have a serious look about them, sometimes so much so that they can look older than their years. They often have a narrow forehead with frown lines. They walk with purpose and surety.

Male characters are often well built and very conscious of his appearance. He will have sharp eyes, which penetrate through others. He rarely smiles but when he does will reveal strong white well cared for teeth. The Capricorn male will be dignified and polite and will always be a reliable friend. He will express firm beliefs and opinions but is never vain or exhibitionist in nature.

Female characters will often have a small but womanly shape. She will have deep eyes, which portray a sense of seriousness and complement her ‘earthy’ beauty. She is very self-conscious and despite her calm outward appearance can be quite moody and intense inwardly. The Capricorn female does not like to be teased, often takes offence Capricorns like to be doing something even when at rest. They rarely become ill, but if they do, are quite stoical about it. Worries, responsibilities and moodiness tend to cloud Capricorns health and they often need help to learn to relax.

Capricorn – Likes and Dislikes

All the star signs have some lucky elements assigned to their profile. Capricorn characters will prefer the colours green, black, grey, indigo and violet. The gemstones jet, black diamond, onyx and ruby represent their sign and their metal is lead. Their favourite animal is the goat or the ass and plants linked to their sign include yew, ash, hemp and weeping willow. Their favourite scent is musk.

Most Capricorn characters do not like untidiness, surprises or being embarrassed in public. They have a tendency to think that they always know best and can come across as bit egotistical. They are eternal perfectionists who are never completely satisfied.

Those born under the sign of Capricorn will like hot but simple colourful food. They will often have membership to an exclusive club and like the best of the best. They like to have plenty of time to make decisions and won’t be rushed into making a choice. However, they will take calculated risks when they need to. They have good organistional skills, are very hard working and often driven by status.

Using the Zodiac to helpdevelop characters can provide the writer with additional information, which shapes their behaviour and actions. The next article will start to look at the second earth sign Taurus.
